How to reset when the month got away from you
Missed deadlines, half-finished essays, a project that stalled. A short guide to unblocking yourself without spiralling.
01First: forgive the past month
Guilt is a bad planner. Every hour you spend replaying what you should have done is an hour you're not doing the next thing.
Say the honest sentence out loud: 'The last month didn't go how I wanted. This month, I'm going to do these three things.' Then do them.
02Cut the list in half
Look at your target list. Cross off the two things you were only chasing because they sounded impressive. Keep the ones you'd genuinely want.
A shorter list you actually finish is worth more than a long list you resent.
03One small win this week
Pick the smallest possible next step and finish it in the next 48 hours. One paragraph of an essay. One email to a mentor. One page of a project write-up.
Momentum is the point. Finishing something small teaches your brain that finishing is possible.
04Ask for one hour of help
Text a teacher, mentor, or older student and ask for one hour on a Sunday to look at what you have. Most people say yes when the ask is small and specific.
You don't have to figure everything out alone. Nobody who got somewhere interesting did.
