How we vet.

What we publish

Every opportunity in the catalog meets all of the following before it's marked verified:

1. The host is a real, identifiable organization — university, government agency, established nonprofit, or recognized company. Anonymous "consultancies" don't make it in.
2. The program is free or comes with a stipend / financial-aid path. Paid summer camps without need-based aid don't make it in.
3. The link resolves to a working page about the program (not a 404, not a generic homepage).
4. Eligibility, deadline, and cost information are stated by the host — not just inferred.

What we don't do

• We don't accept money or sponsorships from listed programs.
• We don't rank programs by "prestige." The Finder ranks by fit to your profile.
• We don't endorse — listings are informational. Always confirm details on the host's official site.
• We don't guarantee acceptance, funding, or any outcome from a program we list.

Automated quality control

• Daily link checker hits every program URL and flags broken ones for review.
• Weekly auto-discovery scrapes ~95 trusted sources for new programs; results enter a human review queue, not the public catalog directly.
• Deduplication by normalized organization + program name keeps the same opportunity from appearing twice.
• Deadline normalization parses "Early March" / "March 15, 2026" / "Rolling" into a real date when possible, so the Finder's deadline sort is honest.

Found a problem?

Programs change, links rot, fees appear. If you spot something wrong — broken link, outdated deadline, program quietly ended, or a listing that doesn't pass the bar above — use the Report a problem button on the program page, or email hello@atlasofopportunity.org. We review every report and either fix the listing or remove it.

Takedown / DMCA

Listings link to and briefly summarize publicly available program information from the host organization. If you are the rights holder for content that appears here, or you represent a listed program and want a description corrected, attributed, or removed, email hello@atlasofopportunity.org with:

1. The exact URL on Atlas of Opportunity (e.g. /programs/...).
2. The material you want changed or removed, and why.
3. Your contact info and, for DMCA notices, a statement made under penalty of perjury that you are the rights holder or authorized to act on their behalf, plus a physical or electronic signature.

We acknowledge requests within 3 business days and act on valid takedown notices within 10 business days, usually faster. Good-faith counter-notices are welcome.

Honest about what this is

Atlas of Opportunity is a student-led educational project. It is not a school counselor, a college admissions consultant, or a registered charity. We do not accept donations. Nothing here is legal, financial, or admissions advice.
