Quality & Trust

Atlas of Opportunity is maintained by a small student-led team. We do not list every program we find — we vet, deduplicate, and re-check the catalog continuously. This page exists so you can see what that actually means in numbers.

How we vet

  • Every listing has a source URL we manually opened at least once.
  • We prefer official organizational pages over aggregators.
  • Pay-to-play summer programs are excluded unless they offer substantial financial aid.
  • Listings include grade level, format (in-person/remote/hybrid), and deadline when known.

How we keep it fresh

  • An automated link checker runs daily against every listing.
  • Broken links are quarantined; we attempt to recover the new URL or remove the listing.
  • A discovery pipeline scans 90+ trusted sources weekly for new programs.
  • Community reports through “Report a problem” are reviewed by hand.

What we don't claim

  • We are a student project, not an accredited counseling service.
  • Acceptance, funding, and eligibility decisions are made by the listed organizations — not by us.
  • Some listings may still be out of date between checks. Please verify on the program's official site before applying.
